About the play
Oh, Mary! is an uproariously dark comedy about a miserable, suffocated Mary Todd Lincoln in the weeks leading up to Abraham Lincoln’s assassination. Unrequited yearning, alcoholism, and suppressed desires abound in this 80-minute one-act play that finally examines the forgotten life and dreams of Mrs. Lincoln, through the lens of an idiot (playwright Cole Escola).
Following its critically acclaimed success and Olivier Award win for Best Entertainment or Comedy Play, Oh, Mary! has now extended through to 2027. Catherine Tate continues as Mary Todd Lincoln until 18 July, then Cole Escola returns to reprise their iconic original role for a strictly limited four-week engagement from 20 July. They will be followed by Jinkx Monsoon, who also returns to the role of Mary for a six-week run from 17 August.
